Two A&M-Commerce football players robbed, shot in Miami area | News

This is a developing story and will be updated once more information is made available.

According to a report from Texas A&M University-Commerce, two members of the Lion football team were robbed at gunpoint before being shot while on spring break vacation in Florida.

The university’s athletics department issued a statement last Saturday night that it had received word on Saturday of the incident involving the students, who were not identified in the initial release.

The statement from the departments says that both of the student athletes are currently being treated at a Miami-area hospital, but did not list their conditions. Athletic Director Tim McMurray and Head Football Coach David Bailiff are currently en route to Florida to be with the students, the release stated.

“This is the extent of the information available at this time. Texas A&M-Commerce will continue to closely monitor the situation,” the release said.
