SOME of Tamworth’s brightest junior tennis stars have excelled during a packed two-week tournament schedule in Victoria recently. Connor Guest, Zach Adams and Kaecia Beattie recently completed their third tournament in two weeks in Wodonga, after also competing in Albury and Shepparton earlier in the month. The trio went out on a winning note with Adams taking out the under-16 boys singles consolation and runner up in the under-16 boys doubles, while Guest reached the quarter finals in the under-12 boys singles and doubles. Read Also: The trio’s coach Jarrod Campbell said he was “really proud of their efforts”. “Their tennis improved so much and they have gained so much knowledge from playing in these events,” Campbell said. “They have each played more than 30 competitive singles and doubles matches each in 2 weeks and learnt a lot about how to deal with the challenges that come along with that. “Challenges like how to manage physical and mental fatigue, the emotion of missing parents, the importance of sleep, trying to be in the correct mental mindset for every match. “All up they have achieved great results and should be really proud.” Support the local news that keeps you informed – subscribe today. The camp will see the country’s best indigenous tennis players come together for a week of intense training, cultural development and a trip to the Australian Open. “The experience will be unreal for Kaecia,” Campbell said. “All of these events are high level events and the experiences these guys got will hold them in great stead for the future.” Sign up to receive The Leader’s breaking news and top stories straight to your inbox.
