The Giants have $33.6 million in dead salary cap, which might sound like just any number in the multi-billion dollar NFL business.
It’s the most in the NFL by a wide margin over the Jaguars ($24.1 million), Ravens ($23.7 million), Steelers ($23 million) and Cardinals ($22.1 million), according to overthecap.com.
Dead cap is the salary cap charge for players no longer on the team, and it exists because of accounting rules applied to bonus money already paid.
RT Daryl Williams, Panthers: $6 million
OLB Preston Smith, Packers: $6 million
S Adrian Amos, Packers: $5.9 million
He developed into one of the NFL’s best safeties — capable of covering the pass and stopping the run from either free safety or strong safety — at just the right time. The Giants were interested but he flipped sides in the Bears-Packers rivalry for four years, $36 million.
