Everton vs West Ham: Shinji Kagawa transfer update

Shinji Kagawa & Besiktas

Back in the January transfer window, Shinji Kagawa moved on loan from Borussia Dortmund to Besiktas.

Now 30, Kagawa has been a success since moving to Turkey.

The Japanese star has scored three goals in eight Super Lig appearances, while he’s also chipped in with one assist.

Kagawa’s contract at Besiktas expires in the summer, and according to German website Fussballeck, the Turks have already realised they lack the funds to make the deal permanent.

That means that Kagawa is poised to return to Dortmund in the off-season.

Kagawa is under contract at the Signal Iduna Park until 2020.

Everton & West Ham

What’s clear is that Kagawadoesn’t have much of a future at BVB.

The Germans have evolved this season, while the emergence of players including Jadon Sancho.

It’s difficult to see how Kagawa could force his way back into the team next season.

Does that mean he needs to leave the Germans in the summer?

Fussballeck believe that’s likely, linking the midfielder with Everton and West Ham.

Both Premier League clubs were linked with Kagawa in January before he chose his Turkish move.

But does signing Kagawa make sense for either Everton or West Ham?

Fans of the Hammers and Toffees may argue that they are already well-stocked with creative types in midfield.

It’s also worth pointing out that Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen are linked to Kagawa.
