Torrid time on the injury front
Arsenal have suffered a second injury blow during their clash in the Europa League against Sporting CP following Danny Welbeck’s in the first half.
It’s certainly not been a great night for Arsenal’s medical staff.
They were forced into action when Danny Welbeck hit the deck with a very serious looking injury.
The Englishman has suffered some pretty serious injuries in the past and this looks to be the latest.
Mattéo Guendouzi looked to be devastated as he looked on at Welbeck as he was stretchered off.
Many on social media also sent their good wishes to the striker.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, that was not the end of their injury woes.
That is because they suffered a second injury blow in the second half.
This time, it was Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Second blow of the evening
The Swiss defender hasn’t played as many times as he would have liked since his Bosman move from Juventus.
He has started just six games so far this season, only once in the Premier League.
Hector Bellerin has been preferred in those games but Lichtsteiner has been given the chance to impress in the Europa League instead.
He’s not done too badly for Arsenal in Europe as the side qualified for the knockout phase of the tournament with ease after their draw with Sporting.
Though, Lichtsteiner will not be able to enjoy it after he was forced off in the second half with what looked to be a hamstring injury.
The 34-year-old made a burst forward with the ball but was forced to pull up and go to ground.
With Welbeck and Lichtsteiner both going off injured, it certainly hasn’t been an ideal night on the injury front and Arsenal are looking to look short at the back.
Lichtsteiner coming off injured here. Smith Rowe has a problem too and was going to be substituted but Emery has changed his mind. They only have one sub left so ESR has to play on otherwise Arsenal will be down to ten men. Maitland-Niles on, Lichtsteiner down the tunnel.

Can only hope Lichtsteiner’s injury just isn’t too bad, we’re literally down to three fullbacks
